Mari Miller uses soil chromatography to illuminate the vitality of the earth beneath our feet. Soil chromatography is a soil science test and form of alternative photography that lets you see the compounds and bacteria in a soil or botanical sample without a microscope. Each color in a print is a different compound and each striation and wavy border is made by bacteria.
